Washington’s highly-touted defense continued to have trouble for the third straight week, leaving many to believe the talented group has been excessively overhyped. The unit had its worse outing of the season so far, conceding 43 points to the Bills on Sunday. So what exactly is going wrong for this defense? A short answer is just about everything. A longer answer will take a few articles to break down, so this is the first of a few pieces breaking down the defensive struggles against the Bills.
In this piece, we’ll start with some communication issues causing receivers to run wide open. Washington had a number of fundamental issues against the Bills. Things as simple as getting lined up and having each player be on the same page with regards to the play called are basic communication problems that simply can’t afford to go wrong, and yet they did consistently for Washington against the Bills.
