Initial thoughts: Washington beaten heavily by Bills
Some initial thoughts and observations from Washington’s heavy loss to the Bills
Washington was expected to lose to the Buffalo Bills this week. The Bills, after all, are considered a Super Bowl contender in the AFC. The manner of which Washington was so convincingly beaten, however, is hugely concerning. Head Coach Ron Rivera called this a measuring stick game to see how Washington stacks up against quality opposition. The result of the measurement? Washington falls significantly short of being ready to compete against the best in the league after losing 43-21 to the Bills.
The offense generated a few big plays but couldn’t stop turning the ball over while the defense continued to be hugely disappointing. Here are some of my initial thoughts and takeaways from the game:
Coverage issues
The only place to start is with the defense. On the back end, the coverage had issues all game. There were blown coverages with receivers running open, failed pass offs between defenders and players getting burned too.
