Certainly is a big game. Feels like this team always struggles against the Giants regardless of the situation the Giants are in. But this is a game that in reality, they should be winning. Giants are banged up, their OL is really struggling. Washington fans should expect a strong performance, and rightly so. If the team fails to deliver, Rivera is going to be feeling that pressure again like he did after the Bears game.
Funny you should mention that Bears game. I have some trepidation that it might be a redux of that disappointment.
The Giants, as were the Bears, are desperate for a win & probably think the Commanders - who they’ve frequently handled in the past - are just the team to get it against, especially after giving the Bills a competitive tussle last week. I can imagine that they will come into this one spoiling for a fight - both figuratively & LITERALLY, & will attempt to punch the Coms in the mouth right from the get go.
If this turns out to be the case, I hope RRR & ALL his coaches have the players ready for it so that they can take advantage of any NYG over-aggressiveness or over-emotionalism & use it against them.
Hey Mark I was wondering what ways EB can get Jahan more involved. We have seen him dial up quick routes for Terry early in some of the games like the Eagles and Falcons to get the ball in his hands early. Do you think there some routes EB is not giving Jahan that utilizes his skill set more? Seemed like Turner game him lots of whip routes and comeback routes. Haven’t seen him run those much likely due to scheme change, even though he looked good at performing those. Or do you think there is not much more he can do that he isn’t already doing to get Jahan involved?
Yeah, they certainly could call some plays for him the way they have for McLaurin, but then the complaint will be “Why isn’t McLaurin getting the ball?”.
I think they could perhaps use Dotson in the slot and let him run some more choice routes. That was something he was getting really good at late last year and we haven’t seen too much of this year (having said that, the route in the clip vs the Bears was very similar to the type of play I’m talking about, so it’s not like they aren’t giving him any opportunities in there). Those whip routes tend to come from receivers aligned inside too and Samuel is one that is also really good in the slot and with those types of routes. Both have had chances to run them, it just so happens the ball has been thrown elsewhere when Dotson runs them.
I think if it were really a huge issue, EB could do more to get Dotson involved. If it persists throughout the season then perhaps he will. But I think it’s just a thing that happens when you have a bunch of good weapons. On certain weeks, it’ll just play out where one guy gets the ball more than others. At the start of this season we were all wondering why McLaurin wasn’t getting the ball more. Now it’s Dotson’s turn. I’m sure in a few weeks we’ll all be wondering why Samuel hasn’t caught many passes for a few games.
Yeah exactly that. When you have as many weapons as the Commanders do, they don’t have to force the ball to anyone. They can just call concepts and truly let the QB read plays out properly, knowing whoever gets the ball in the end is capable of making a play. At the start of the year it was McLaurin who wasn’t getting the ball enough, now it’s Dotson. In a few weeks it will be Samuel and then it will be Logan Thomas. Just the nature of having good weapons.
It’s only really an issue if one receiver goes a number of games without getting any targets or if the offense isn’t being productive. But neither of those are really the case.
Last year Dotson, was a Giant killer.
On another note, this is another big game for the Rivera regime.

Weren't we worried for a little while last year about Samuel not getting any targets? It seems to come and go. Thanks.
