Breaking down Scott Turner’s game plan and use of Terry McLaurin against the Chargers
Offensive coordinator Scott Turner was criticized heavily for his game plan and lack of targets for Terry McLaurin against the Chargers, but was it merited criticism?
One of the biggest surprises and disappointment from Washington’s loss against the Chargers was the lack of involvement for star receiver Terry McLaurin. McLaurin had just four catches for 62 yards and his first target didn’t come until the end of the first half with just 25 seconds left on the clock. McLaurin has already established himself as one of the best young receivers in the league and is far and away Washington’s biggest threat on offense, so the lack of targets is confusing on the face of it and has led to Washington fans questioning offensive coordinator Scott Turner’s position with the team.
However, when watching back the All-22 footage, the reasons behind McLaurin’s lack of targets became a little more understandable.
