Breaking down Jamin Davis’ performance against the Giants
Taking a closer look at how Washington’s first-round pick played in his second game of the season.
Jamin Davis’ first game in the NFL wasn’t anything to write home about. He struggled a little bit in Washington’s opening game against the Chargers and didn’t have the impact expected from a first-round pick in his second game against the Giants either. However, Head Coach Ron Rivera praised Davis after the Giants game saying he was pleased with the progress he showed in the game. So let's take a look at exactly what that progress was.
Run defense
Last week I wrote about how Davis had been struggling with processing information at an NFL speed, leaving him late to diagnose plays and fit his gaps. In general, he improved in this aspect against the Giants, but there was still a few examples of some hesitancy, particularly early in the game. In fact, on Davis’ first snap of the game, we saw some of that hesitancy.
